Seeking an IT/SCADA Engineer that will report to our Boerne, Texas office.  In this role, you will perform project related work in the utilities and power delivery industry. 

The preferred candidate will have an excellent understanding of networks and the principles of protecting critical infrastructure and communication systems. The candidate will develop and assist in the design, administration, security and troubleshooting of customer IT Infrastructure and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) networks. The role involves supporting all aspects of the client network, system management, security measures, and participating in incident response.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The principal duties and responsibilities of the IT/SCADA Engineer consists of, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Administers, installs, and troubleshoots a variety of operating systems, servers, network and security hardware.
  • Performs system maintenance tasks, such as systems back-up, recovery and file maintenance.
  • Configuration of network routers and switches, point mapping, relay communication programming, and creation of communication diagrams from network topology.
  • Assist in the administration and monitoring of systems for efficient operation.
  • Troubleshoot various end user/customer support issues verifying physical layer issues, resolving username and password problems, uninstalling/ reinstalling software applications, verification of proper hardware and software set up.
  • Troubleshooting equipment and software to repair and diagnose any malfunctions in the system to include to assist with firmware and software updates.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of security measures for IT Operational Technology & SCADA networks.
  • Respond to incidents and assist in identifying root causes.
  • Participate in vulnerability assessments and identify potential security threats.
  • Ability to create and maintain technical documentation not limited to network diagrams, procedures, end user training resources, FAQs, manuals, screen recordings, etc.
  • Collaborate on network configuration tasks and system upgrades.
  • Ability to maintain a professional attitude while under stress or handling a crisis
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and employees to achieve common goals.
  • Stay current with cybersecurity trends and best practices.
  • Learn industry compliance requirements and implement with clients
  • Various other duties as assigned
  • Some travel required

REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • BA/BS of IT or Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 4 years of IT administration experience across software, networks, and hardware.
  • Excellent experience with network security concepts and tools (e.g., firewalls, VPNs, etc)
  • 2-4 years of experience preferred with SCADA systems.
  • Basic understanding of SCADA protocols and architecture.
  • Experience with documentation and reporting.
  • Understand client requirements for GUI/communication interface, networking, and create specifications based on these requirements.
  • Collect systems and management data to design, build, and repair automated systems.
SKILLS:
  • Solid knowledge of IT hardware, software, networking, firewalls, security, storage, etc.
  • Solid knowledge of industrial control systems (ICS) and operational technology (OT).
  • Experience with Windows Server and desktop operating systems.
  • Ability to learn new software packages efficiently.
  • Experience with cybersecurity protection and monitoring tools.
  • Experience with setup and management of firewalls. Fortinet and Palo Alto preferred.
  • Proficient with networks, VLANs switches, routers and overall network communications.
  • Experience with Virtualization environments, VMWare and Hyper-V.
  • Experience and skill in troubleshooting IT and control system issues
  • Strong (effective) written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong skills of time management, organization and multi-tasking.
  • Ability to work in design teams, self-motivated to perform assigned tasks, and taking the initiative to learn the trade.
  • AutoCAD experience is beneficial.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
